Black Duck Software Expands International Reach With New Distribution Partners in Israel and the United Kingdom

AnyOpen and CM-Logic Relationships and Black Duck’s Participation in Two European Trade Events Represent Growing International Demand for Software License Compliance

Waltham, Mass. - November 14, 2006 -
Black Duck Software, the leading global provider of software compliance management solutions, today expanded its international reach by adding AnyOpen and CM-Logic, two IT services firms, as resellers, to increase Black Duck’s presence in Israel and the United Kingdom. Both AnyOpen and CM-Logic will sell BlackDuck’s protexIP software license management solutions as part of their customer engagements to ensure their customers can take advantage of Open Source code while managing license compliance.

Software development today involves the assembly of a number of code components often gathered from different origins within a company and from public open source libraries. BlackDuck’s protexIP creates a collaborative environment for companies to manage the process of verifying compliance with an assortment of software licenses that apply to software code.

The new partnerships coincide with Black Duck’s participation in two pan-European trade shows. Black Duck recently attended Open Source in Mobile held in Amsterdam on November 7 and 8, where CEO Doug Levin also spoke, and the company is participating in Linux World Conference & Expo Cologne 2006 with partner Novell from November 14 through November 16. The events will raise the importance of software license compliance management, given the growing use of open source in applications worldwide.

“Organizations in Israel are wrestling with the issue of compliance with complicated software license requirements, especially related to open source software components imbedded in their solutions”, said Avi Brody, Co-CEO of AnyOpen. “By providing protex/IP, the leading software compliance platform, to our customers we hope to help them make the most of open source while protecting their own software intellectual property.”

“CM-Logic is at the forefront of the changes to the application development process that result in better software meeting strategic enterprise IT needs, and by incorporating Black Duck’s solutions into our work with IBM Rational, our customers can fully recognize the advantages of today’s application development process,” said Stephen Toop, CEO/Founder of
CM-Logic, Ltd.

Both AnyOpen and CM-Logic will distribute Black Duck’s protexIP solutions. This includes protexIP/Enterprise and protexIP/Professional, used by software programmers, managers and legal counsel to ensure that code under development complies with applicable software licenses.

“Software development has become a global process, and the complexity of software license compliance is a reality worldwide,” said Douglas Levin, CEO of Black Duck Software. “In the past few months, Black Duck has signed five international partners to address the need that companies everywhere have, to manage this complexity.  Our resellers will help hundreds of companies deploy Black Duck’s protexIP and exportIP as part of their software development lifecycle processes. Enterprises around the world understand that by properly managing the licensing requirements relevant to open source, they can fully capitalize on the benefits of today’s changing application development models.”

AnyOpen and CM-Logic are the newest Black Duck international partners. Earlier this year, Black Duck announced agreements with other international distributors, including Atos Origin in Europe, SIOS Technology, Inc in Japan, Black Duck Software Korea, and Open Channel Solutions in Australia and New Zealand
